Preparing for the Future of Big Data
Today, big data is aiming to address the vast amounts of unstructured data that is increasing enterprise level data growth. However, it often brings along with it a level of difficulty working with databases and statistics, therefore requiring massively parallel software solutions such as Apache Hadoop to step in.
How Do You Feel About Cloud Providers?
Cloud, cloud, cloud. It’s all the discussion excitement, all the rage. What do you think? I’ve been vocal in the past about what I think about providers and the need to step up.
Do you think it’s ready for prime time? I’m really interested in what you think is still needed in the Cloud-Provider arena. I’m talking less about service providers for hosting your servers, and more about what I’d call the current "traditional" (now THERE’s a bizarre term, "traditional" cloud providers, but I digress) providers.
I’m really curious how you feel about Microsoft and Amazon and the other cloud DB providers. What would it take in terms of additional functionality to make you feel that they are ready for primetime? (Or, do you feel they are there today… and if so, let me know why….)
