Many Things Can Impact Query Performance
Once you work through your systems, reviewing calls, reviewing indexes, checking your database structures… Once you have reviewed the server to see the memory and CPU utilization but can’t find the issue, it’s time to look at new information. Take a look at Confio Ignite. With the Confio tools, you’ll be able to see actual query response time – and you’ll see what items along the way impact performance. Find out how things are running based on what your users are really seeing – not what the server is seeing. Check out Confio Ignite and get… the rest of the story. Get more information here.

Just 30 minutes of your time… you’ll find out about …
Troubleshooting and Maintaining SQL Server 2005

We’ll look into performance monitor counters to keep track of, where logs are that you should be aware of and more. The goal of this session is to have you feeling comfortable with performance profiling and investigation approaches for your system.

Over the Holidays…
Increase your chances to actually HAVE a holiday. Put your plans down in writing – recovery, backup, troubleshooting. Make sure it’s possible for someone to step in and at least take basic steps to get and keep your systems running in your absence.

Now is the time to get these plans in place. Think about first steps to address issues, think about things that happen on your systems that you need to address on a regular or semi-regular basis. From this list of items, you can make checklists to address those items – steps that anyone can follow to correct the issues.

I understand if you don’t want to hand over the keys to the kingdom, but you can still let someone help with the more basic of steps to address predictable happenings.

Give yourself a chance at a break as we start into this holiday season. Being THE critical path is something to avoid if at all possible.
