It’s Time To Think About YOUR Holidays
I’ll be talking about this tomorrow on the show, too, but it’s time to make sure you’re ready to NOT have to come in to work on your SQL Servers over the holidays. Now’s the time to pull those stats, check the trends against available disk space and see that your systems are performing and growing as you thought you would. If so, you need to check your systems, make sure they’ll support that growth through the holidays and you’ll be all set on that front.
From there, you need to make sure your out of office email responder is up and running, your voice mail is set and that people know you’re leaving. Don’t surprise your customers, clients, bosses or co-workers. Make sure people know when you’ll be gone, well ahead of time.
Write up your escalation procedures, make sure people know who to contact, when. It’ll save the "who do I call?" phone calls late at night.
Take a bit of pre-preparation now and protect those holidays with your friends and family. More tomorrow on the show.
