Microsoft Windows Server 2012 EBook
I came across this link through a posting on Linked-In for an eBook on Microsoft Windows Server 2012. I found the book to be very helpful in describing the Microsoft vision of private and public clouds, and collaboration between the two.
Although the book has only five chapters, and is based on beta version of Windows Server 2012, I found it extremely helpful in understanding the issues being addressed with this release of the Microsoft flagship operating system.
The five chapters are:
- The business need for Windows Server 2012
- Foundation for building your private cloud
- Highly available, easy to manage multi-server platform
- Deploy web applications on premises and in the cloud
- Enabling the modern workstyle
The text is readily understood; technical concepts are explained in clear language demonstrating how and why they are important to consumers of the Windows Operating system. For example, Windows Server 2012 is designed to be a backbone of a Private Cloud. However, the book takes the time to define a private cloud, and what the value of a private cloud would be to a business.
I’d recommend this read for people that:
- are considering the Microsoft cloud as a possible platform for your software
- wish to learn more about cloud and distributed technologies
- are interested in finding out what the intended feature lists are for the next release of Windows Server
