Adding custom context menu items to out of the box SharePoint lists and libraries
Most of the functionality available for users to work with when it comes to SharePoint lists and document library items comes in item context menu. If you’d like to add you own functionality to handle list and document library items you might want to take the same approach and make your custom functions available through item context menus where applicable. In this article we’ll take a look how you can add your own items to existing lists and document libraries context menu.

How Do You Like to Learn?
I’ve been talking with various people about the way information is delivered. I contend that things have changed, and are continuing to change looking forward. My contention:

– I think people look to receive their how-to information in multiple mediums. Articles, podcasts, video programs, forums and so-on.
– I think the type of information you want, and the application of that information will be determining factors in how you want to receive it. Looking for a quick bit of help for an issue you’re facing? You’re probably looking for a written article or tip. Looking for information that moves beyond addressing a single issue or is more in-depth? Video demos and longer presentations are helpful.

What do you think? Do you read magazines? Blogs only? Web sites? Watch YouTube for your video how-tos? None of these?

Most of all, I think we have to continue to innovate the best ways to deliver. To sit back and assume that all of the things we’ve done before are the only ways we’ll ever deliver information is insanity, in my opinion.

Please – do drop me a note – what do you look for? What mediums work best for you? Do you see things changing in the future? What would you LOVE to see?

Perhaps we’ll get 3-d holograms for showing how-to information. 🙂
