It’s not difficult, you don’t have to be a professional writer (though you will instantly be one) and we’d love to work with you…
SSWUG is all about sharing lessons learned, things that happen in the field, thoughts about where things are going, etc. All of those things that impact someone working with data platforms.
We’re actively seeking authors, presenters, people with a passion for letting others know about tips and tricks, best practices and such. We’ll help you with your posts, we’ll work with you on topics, and yes, we do pay for posts.
So many times when I talk with someone about writing, they’re concerned because they haven’t done it before or don’t feel like they’d be able to do a bunch of posts.
First, it’s ok. If you’re writing about things you love, techniques you’ve discovered that help you, etc, those are things people want to hear about. They want to hear things that work and don’t work – things that are exceptions to the “works as advertised” rule and so-on.
Second, write a single post. No need to worry about multiple posts, just write one. See if you enjoy it. If so, you can write additional posts. If not, no worries.
It’s easy to get started. Just drop a note to the content manager on the site – Kat McCord (caitlin@sswug.org) and let her know what you have in mind. It doesn’t need to be the next War and Peace – just a quick tip or idea that you want to share. We’ll help with editing and review, all of that.
We would love to work with you.
