So Much To Learn!
I have to say – I’ve been talking with as many of the speakers and presenters as possible and have learned a lot already about the big and little things that I didn’t know about BI, about SharePoint. We’ve started working with presenters to put together impromptu best-practices or "food for thought" segments for the SelectViews show. These will be great tips and ideas and will give you a new look at some amazing professionals that are sharing their knowledge.

SharePoint – did you know there are best practices for setting up the database itself? Rather than accepting defaults for auto-grow, maintenance plans and such – you can better optimize your system if you specifically set up things that are best for SharePoint. I have to say, I didn’t know this. On the auto-grow for example, just say no. While we’ve talked about this with respect to overall performance with SQL Server, it takes on special meaning when it comes to SharePoint because of the many inserts and updates and other activities SharePoint is doing with your SQL Server. So, rather than autogrow, go ahead and allocate that disk space. We’ll have this and a lot more in the segments and the sessions for the conferences. It’s very cool.

The really cool thing about working with a lot of people – from our writers to consultants to Chris’ is getting to hear the war stories. We’ll have lots of information coming your way on many of these. If you have any you’d like to share, feel free to let me know! We’ll get them "out there."
