Essentially, I’m curious if, as we all accumulate all of this information, all this data in our systems, how often are you faced with an upgrade to your SQL Server system? In webcasts, whitepapers and articles, we’ve talked about server consolidation – and optimization. I can see cases for both, along with the more traditional growth items – adding disk, CPU, RAM, etc.

We’ve been seeing a mix of things from different people – it seems like more departmental-style databases (almost a reversal of the prior trend to centralize) in some cases, and at the same time some really significant systems that need the update/upgrade of hardware to accommodate the growing needs. I’ll keep you posted over the next couple of days as people write in with their experiences.
