Twitter… and SQL Server?
I noticed this reference on some monitors – it’s a set of routines to integrate your SQL Server with Twitter. Check it out here.

Now, I’m in favor of all sorts of technology, the convergence of tools and all that. But, I have to say, what in the world would be the real use of SQL Server and Twitter in an automated sense? I suppose you could send out alerts if there were system problems, but I fear that someone will start using it to send information back and forth between systems. Talk about a compliance/best practices nightmare for data security. Don’t get me started about reliability.

The fact is that it’s probably a toy as much as it’s a tool (it even says "it’s fun"), but I had to really stop for a second and think about how this could be (ab)used. With the wrong people relying on it for the wrong things… sheesh.

I know, I know. Lighten up, but sometimes I just have to say… "huh?"
