SANs and SQL Server
I’ve been seeing a number of posts, questions and inquiries about SQL Server on SANs. In particular, people have been increasingly asking about best practices, tips and how-to information when deploying SQL Server databases onto SAN-based storage.

I thought I’d put this out to you, the SSWUG readers, to see if you have items you’ve learned, things you wish you’d known about SANs and so-on. Do you have tips and tricks that you’ve come to rely on when you’re deploying systems in this type of environment? Are there questions you wish you’d known to ask when you were selecting a SAN system?

I’m also interested in how the SAN has worked in the real world. What benefits have you seen and what surprises have you encountered in working with your SANs?

Drop me a note here, let me know what you’ve seen.
