SharePoint and SQL Server – Officially Together

SharePoint and SQL Server – Officially Together
Working with SharePoint? Probably headed for SharePoint 2010? If so, the official announcement has come out that SQL Server will be a core requirement of SharePoint 2010 – get more information here and at the linked sites. While SQL Server has been integral to SharePoint to-date, the changes and updates, along with the other new requirements for specific versions of Windows Server, are something you’ll want to be planning for now, rather than surprised by later.

It’s also a strong suggestion that, if your company is using SharePoint, and you’re responsible for the databases… make sure you’re up to speed on the requirements and how-to tips for working with SQL Server and SharePoint.

I mentioned yesterday too that the big emphasis of SQL Server 2008 R2 will be heavily based in BI. This, with the added integration with Office applications and other capabilities coming in this release/update cycle fits well into the SharePoint/SQL Server/Office picture.
