Social Media – For Business – Feedback
Last week I asked about how you are, or are not, using social sites – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so-on – in your professional life. There’s certainly a strong pull to participate in these technologies and it’s unclear how you break out of your pre-existing circle of contacts with these tools. The question, then, is whether these tools let you have new ways of working with existing (and some new) contacts, or are they not yet "there" for professional/business networking?

Kenneth: "Sounds crazy but I haven’t even been that involved in Facebook or Twitter yet. The most comprehensive results is GOOGLE. anytime we have a problem we GOOGLE it. Thats my thoughts anyway. Does that mean it won’t or can’t change in the near future? The balance of the net is very delicate and I could see a Facebook or Twitter definitely holding their own, but to over take Google is going to take a lot. Especially when you’re stuck."

Facebook: A friend badgered me into signing up (being the DBA I am, I tend to get paranoid about getting my name into yet ANOTHER data mining opportunity, so I resisted for a long time, but finally signed up – have done very little with it.

Blogging: I’ve been told I should blog. Haven’t done that yet.

So let’s think about this…

On top of all that that I’m not doing, I’m writing this email on a machine running xp… Office 2003… I drive a 41 year old car… I think that there’s some consistency there…"
