What are YOUR Data Growth Trends?
I wanted to ask what types of growth you’re seeing in storage requirements for your databases?
So many systems we’re seeing now are being swayed by SharePoint storage requirements and of course the growth of systems in general. We’ve seen some really stunning growth trends on a few systems where we were doing some denormalized tables to support data warehouses – mostly due to linked-list-type tables and the added indexing requirements for the data warehouses.
I thought I’d ask – what are you seeing? Send me an email, let me know.
One thing to know about SQL Server 2008 R2 – backup compression has moved to standard edition for SQL Server 2008 R2. Might be just the ticket for your systems, and it can be really, really helpful for managing your disk requirements. If you could use the disk space opened up by backup compression, you’ll definitely want to check it out.
