Parallel Data Warehouse is a warehousing Appliance. It consists of a Pre-Configured/Scalable Data Warehouse Platform hosting fast Data Storage from Terabytes or more. It uses industry standard hardware keeping hardware costs lower. You don’ t have to figure out how to cluster servers, configure your SAN, etc. It’s already done for you as it is delivered to your door.
Parallel Data Warehouse also includes the BI stack from Microsoft. SQL Server Analysis Services is the Core of the Parallel Data Warehouse. Adding SQL Server Integration Services to the Parallel Data Warehouse optimizes your ETL processes.
Add in SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft Office 2010, Crescent and you now have an incredibly powerful and lightning fast solution.
Denali has made the PDW even easier. You now have a wizard that helps you create your new PDW, and manages for you where things are placed. Need a fully optimized warehouse? Support for your PDW is also an option.
A PDW can be built for smaller companies not requiring massive warehousing. The PDW can grow as the needs of the business expand.
Conversely, a PDW can be built for large companies requiring massive warehousing needs, with performance far exceeding competitors TCO.
