Database Recovery – A Key Part of Your Attack Plan

Did you notice the free seminar on SQL Server Backup, Restore and failure options Stephen Wynkoop is presenting? I thought about this as I was writing a follow-up editorial to writing an attack plan.

An attack plan is something you execute when some person or process they created are attempting to intrude into your software and steal it or disrupt it. The attack plan would contain processes to stop the intrusion, detect the damage, and remediate the damage getting your systems online safely again.

One part of that plan should be disaster recovery, which is the core of Stephen’s presentation. He’ll be covering backup and restore techniques, of which you have many options that vary in the different versions of SQL Server.

Attackers often attempt to steal data. Sometimes their intention is to disrupt your business by corrupting your data. A solid backup and restore plan is essential for your overall disaster recovery, and is an integral part of your attack plan which may be one of the worst disasters that may happen.

If you haven’t looked into SQL Server backup and restore options or simply need a refresher, this should be for you.

Hope to see you there.

Cheers,

Ben
