SQL Defrag – How Ugly is YOUR Database?
Idera has a cool contest going and they’re looking for the ugliest database around. Actually, they’re looking for the ugliest database index fragmentation around, and you can even look at fixing it with the trial of SQL Defrag Manager. So, think you have the ugliest, nastiest, worst, most fragmented indexes around? Want to win an XBOX 360 for showing it off? Worse yet, do you THINK you may have the ugliest but you’re not sure how to know? Get more information here and find out how you can get one of the three XBOX 360’s

Are Your Databases Settling Down?
The reason I ask is because it seems like that’s the case. It seems like databases have settled into a bit of a flow where things are getting handled on a day-in and day-out basis by and large. This suggests people are getting more comfortable with at least how to do backups, how to do the core things with SQL Server.

In many cases, this has freed up the resources associated with database administration to get more involved in the database management and development duties.

I’m curious if you’re seeing this too – because if so, wouldn’t it make sense for us to start with "Where from here" type articles and content? I think there is always tuning, always applications of best practices, but if we were to start including information that assumed you started from a solid, funtional foundation, we could start looking into "getting more from your SQL Server" type things.

What do you think?

So, if you’re interested, please send me a note – YOU MUST INCLUDE the following information please:

This is a NO-CHARGE offering from the site – we cover the costs of the premium league with Yahoo, which includes their real-time stat-tracker, other tools and premium content, etc.
