New Features in ADO.NET 2.0 (Part I)
ADO.NET has introduced many cool features to improve the scalability and performance of data centric applications. With features like provider independent factory models, support for XQuery handling with xml data type and asynchronous processing techniques, the amount of LOC, code complexity and maintenance has been greatly reduced thus helping the developers to be more productive. In this series of articles, we will explore the new features added to ADO.NET.

Microsoft Seeking Your Feedback
Are you using SQL Server Express? MS is asking about Report Designer updates to the SQL Express environment and I wanted to pass along the pointer to provide your feedback. It sounds like they are wondering if Express is more of a data consumer tool when it comes to reporting. Essentially, they’re asking to see if you agree, and if you think a consumer (as in data consumer) tool or update would be helpful.

"Just Add Sync"
When I was at DevConnections, one of the interviews I did with Microsoft was about their Sync Framework. Basically, with the Sync Framework (SF), you could "just add sync" to your application and be able to readily share information from data to status to interim work files or just about any other object, really.

It was a bit of a mind stretch to "get" how to incorporate this, but it came down to letting you provide for synchronization for just about any application you have. Whatever information you’d need to share back and forth between nodes of the application, you could use SF to accomplish it. It’s not really a replication-type engine, but much more a system that lets you share and keep organized information in general in a connected and a disconnected environment.

I found this article about understanding more about SF, thought I’d pass it along. You can also check out the SF interview on the SSWUGtv archives and see more information about how Microsoft was talking about it at DevConnections.
